COVID-19 FAQ 126:What to do if my oxygen falls?

A fall in O2 level (less than 94%) suggests pneumonia. At this stage, it is a moderate disease. If the O2 level drops to less than 90%, this is indicative of severe disease.
If you develop hypoxia, consult your doctor immediately. You will be managed in Dedicated Covid Health Centre (DCHC) or District hospital or Medical College hospitals.
Besides symptomatic treatment for fever, pain, cough (if you have these symptoms), you need oxygen support.
Supplemental oxygen therapy may be administered through high-flow nasal cannula or simple nasal cannula to maintain a target SpO2 of 92-96%. Timely oxygen supplementation may avoid intubation.
