In this video we will discuss a new study published that looks at the use of a new combination therapy, Ivermectin, Azithromycin, And Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol), for the treatment of early and outpatient COVID-19. These authors established this pilot randomized control trial to test the efficacy of this new combination therapy as a possible early intervention for those with mild and moderate COVID-19 not requiring admission. We will discuss each one of these therapies and the theorized mechanism of actions of each of them in regards to treatment for COVID-19. We will then dive into the study. Interestingly, the authors found decreases in temperature, duration of symptoms, radiographic findings of pneumonia, and ferritin with a faster viral clearance and an increase in oxygen saturations in those that received the combination therapy.
