What is the immune system? Are there different types of immune system? Your immune system is a complex network of cells, tissues, and organs. Together they help the body fight infections and other diseases. When germs such as bacteria or viruses invade your body, they attack and multiply. This is called an infection. The infection causes the disease that makes you sick. Your immune system protects you from the disease by fighting off the germs. Some people have a compromised immune system which allows easier entry for bacteria viruses. You can make several lifestyle and dietary changes today to strengthen your immune system. There is still a lot of unknown about the intricacies of our immune system. For now, there are no scientifically proven direct links between lifestyle and enhanced immune function. These include reducing your sugar intake, staying hydrated, working out regularly, getting adequate sleep, and managing your stress levels. Although none of these suggestions can’t prevent COVID-19, they may reinforce your body’s defenses against harmful pathogens.
