Coronavirus: WHO calls for a stop to the politicization of the pandemic as global cases spike | FULL

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Monday called for a stop to the politicization of the coronavirus pandemic, saying the only thing that will save lives and prevent transmission is science, and not “wishful thinking or deliberate diversion.”

Last week saw the highest number of COVID-19 cases reported to the organization since the beginning of the pandemic, with over 43 million cases worldwide.

The director-general once again stressed on the importance of “not giving up” on safety measures to avoid the so-called lockdowns.

However, he acknowledged that COVID-19 fatigue has a mental and emotional toll on people.
“It’s tough and the fatigue is real, but we can’t give up.” He said.

Many countries in the Northern Hampshire are seeing a concerning rise in cases and hospitalizations, and ICU beds are filling up to capacity in some countries, particularly in Europe and North America, WHO reported.
