In this video we will discuss a systematic review on the current evidence that has looked at the efficacy of Pepcid or Famotidine, a histamine blocker, to treat COVID-19. The review will cover studies that range from early outpatient treatment to inpatient treatment of severe disease, the range of doses that were used, and the various outcome measures. We will start by discussing the mechanism of action of this medication and the predicted way in which it can treat COVID-19, ranging from immunomodulatory effects to direct viral inhibition. We will then dive into the various studies. The majority of studies found very beneficial results, even though the quality of evidence was low. Check out the video for all the details!
