1) Calcium supplements do not cause kidney stones, if the correct preparation is taken the right way
2) Avoid calcitriol containing calcium preparations for routine use. They may cause stones
3) Plain calcium supplements (calcium carbonate or calcium citrate) which contains plain vitamin-D (cholecalciferol) do not cause stones
4) Plain calcium supplements are cheaper than calcitriol containing calcium supplements!
5) Plain calcium supplements prevent kidney stones by binding to oxalate present in the intestines and preventing their absorption into body which can later cause stones in the kidney
6) Always take oral vitamin-D
