Boris Johnson says 'we must act now' as he gives more details on three tier coronavirus restirctions

Boris Johnson will likely ban overnight stays in Covid-19 hotspots as he announces 3-tier system.

The PM will host a televised press conference alongside Whitty and his Chancellor Rishi Sunak, to directly address the public and answer questions on new lockdown measures.

“This is a critical juncture and it is absolutely vital that everyone follows the clear guidance we have set out to help contain the virus,” Downing Street said in its trail of the PM’s statements today.

It’s expected the Prime Minister will be announcing a “broad framework” for the system that will manage the next few months of the pandemic.
He will explain in general terms the measures that will make up the new “medium,” “high” and “very high” alert levels.

Boris Johnson will announce the new system of “local COVID alert levels” in England.

Better known as the “tiered” or “traffic light” system, or to Whitehall officials as “the new Nando’s scale.”

Laying down new rules in a bid to curtail the rising number of coronavirus infections in parts of the country.
