Amla in English is Nellikayi in Kannada and Avalo in Konkani.  Amla  is  cheap and easily available and can boost immunity .  It not only boosts immunity but keeps diseases at bay.  It also helps in keeping your digestive system on track and throughout the day and accelerates your metabolism  A good metabolism is effectively helpful to burn more calories.  Amla can be the best BELLY FAT FIGHTING superfood because of its nutrients.  The vitamin c powers your immunity to fight off toxins and inflammation to boost metabolism.  So now let us jump to the simple recipe of Amla pulav .
INGREDIENTS OF COOKING:
1. Basmati rice – 1  cup
2. Water – as needed
INGREDIENTS OF WHOLE GARAM MASALA POWDER:
1. Cloves -3
2. Cardamom – 2
3.Star anise – 3/4
4. Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
5. Fennel seeds – 2/3 tsp
6. Nutmeg – 1/4 
7. Mace – 1/2
8.Crushed cinnamon – 1″ piece 
INGREDIENTS OF SEASONING:1. Pure ghee – 2 tbsp
2. Whole garam masala powder – as prepared
3. Raisins – 1/3 cup
4. Chopped onion – 1/2 cup
5. Salt – as needed
6. Tender curry leaves – a few
7. Green chili -slit – 2
8. Green peas – 1/2 cup
9. Grated carrots – 1 cup
10. Grated  4 Amla – 1/2 cup 
11. Washed, drained Basmati rice – 1 cup
PROCEDURE: Wash and drain water from Basmati rice and keep it aside.  Wash and grate carrots, Amla and keep it in two separate bowls. Also keep aside green peas.  Add all the ingredients under the whole garam masala powder section  to the mortar and pestle and powder coarse and keep it aside.      Place a cooker on low flame and add 2 tbsp pure ghee to it.  When heated, add the prepared masala powder and stir till aromatic. Add raisins and fry till puffed up.   Add chopped onions and salt and fry till onions turn translucent. Add  tender curry leaves and slit green chili and stir till combined.  Add all grated veggies including green peas and mix till combined well.  Add washed, drained Basmati rice and mix well.  Add water, check for salt  and close the lid and cook only for 8 minutes on low flame.   Open and check once pressure releases.   Yummy Amla pulav is ready to relish plain or with any side dish of your choice.  Yum Yum!!
