Did you know that combining different foods can actually provide our bodies with even more nutrients than if they were eaten alone? Certain foods, when combined, will allow your body to increase its nutrient usage.

A good example of this is the well known combination of mint and pineapple juice. This combination does your digestion some good. It is an excellent go-to juice that will clean out your body and regulate digestion well. The bromelain found within pineapples, will assist in cleaning the liver, while the mint assists the digestive process.

The name given to two or more combined ingredients is food synergy. The reason it’s called this is because it facilitates the absorption of all of the nutrients while interacting during digestion. This is why it’s so beneficial when you combine certain foods, rather than eating them alone. Our bodies are able to absorb a more wide variety of nutrients at the same time, instead of being limited. From a gastronomic stand point, they blend and thrive together greatly.

The lemon was able to increase the potency of the green tea by causing the antioxidants within the green tea to linger and stay around longer in the system. This was after the simulation of digestion.

Beans & Rice

This combination creates a mixture that is full of plant protein. You will get about 12g of protein per cup. This combo is very well known in the Caribbean and Latino communities and even in a number of areas in the southern parts of America. The main nutrient that many strive to consume from this combination is fiber, which helps regulate the digestive system.

Peas & Carrots

This is another combination that is full of fiber. Fiber ensures that your digestive tract is cleaned and remains healthy. It also will boost the health of your skin as well. Papaya & Flaxseed
