We’re back…sort of. We’re going to do things a little different today. Myself and the crew are still doing the self isolation thing so we haven’t been together to tape some new stuff as of late. But!.. I thought I would try my hand at a podcast/video. I have all the recording gear to do so and I’ve been wanting to tell everyone about what I do to help top up my immune system.
A viewer named TAUFIQ SIR EDUCATION asked if I could make a Ginger Syrup. I thought I would do him one better and make my Lemon, Honey, Ginger Elixir. With everything going on in the world with Covid-19, I figure this is the best time to make one. Let me be clear this is not a cure for the virus but it will help boost your immune system to aid in the fight should you have to experience Covid first hand. Let’s hope you are all safe and will never have to experience it. But the reality is, we are all going through tough times and there are probably more tough times ahead. So don’t result to injecting yourself with Lysol. Make one of these instead. Wishing you all good health! Stay safe.

BRUCE’S QUARANTINE COCKTAIL #1 – loosely based on the original Quarantine Cocktail of 1939 (Thanks to Stephane for the inspiration)
1.5oz. (45ml) GIN
.75oz. (22.5ml) LILLET BLANC
.5oz. (15ml) LEMON, GINGER, CINNAMON, HONEY SYRUP
2 DASHES ORANGE BITTERS
1 DASH ANGOSTURA BITTERS
3 DROPS ABSINTHE
VITAMIN C
SHAKE WELL WITH ICE ALL INGREDIENTS (EXCEPT THE BITTERS). DOUBLE STRAIN INTO A COUPE GLASS RIMMED WITH VITAMIN C. ADD THE BITTERS.
BRUCE’S QUARANTINE COCKTAIL #2
1.5oz. (45ml) SAZERAC STRAIGHT RYE WHISKEY
.25oz. (7.5ml) VANILLA GALLIANO
.25oz. (7.5ml) COINTREAU
.5oz. (15ml) LEMON, GINGER, CINNAMON, HONEY SYRUP
2 DASHES DILLON’S WORMWOOD BITTERS (optionally, use Angostura bitters)
SHAKE WELL WITH ICE ALL INGREDIENTS (EXCEPT THE BITTERS). DOUBLE STRAIN OVER ONE LARGE ICE CUBE INTO A ROCKS GLASS. ADD THE BITTERS. GARNISH WITH A CINNAMON STICK.
GERM SMASHER TODDY
2oz. (60ml) BRANDY
.5oz. (15ml) VANILLA GALLIANO
3 TBSP LEMON, GINGER, CINNAMON, HONEY SYRUP
4oz. (120ml) HOT WATER
POUR EVERYTHING INTO A HEAT PROOF GLASS OR MUG. MAKE SURE YOU GET SOME OF THOSE LEMON SLICES AND CINNAMON IN YOUR GLASS. ENJOY!
