Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe has partnered with the Mayo Clinic to provide community-wide antibody testing free of charge for Band members and employees. A Covid19 antibody test is also known as a serology test. Antibodies are made when your body fights off an infection like Covid19, this test doesn’t look for the virus itself instead it looks at the immune system to see if it has responded to the infection.
Not everyone who has had Covid19 was symptomatic, this means you could have had the virus and not even known it. Experts hope these tests can give health officials a better idea of how common the virus is in our communities. And this would be a way to see if you have had it.
