Pandemic Health Lessons Take 7: Sunlight and Fresh Air

As I’ve mentioned, I’m sick and tired of the message to boost immunity being limited to “stay at home, wear a mask, wash your hands and social distance.”

These recommendations don’t boost your immune system. If anything, they shut it down.

This is video seven in the series on building immune support using natural approaches.

This seventh video will cover the importance of sunlight and fresh air. Seems pretty obvious, right?

So why has a good chunk of the population decide that quarantining at home means locking yourself inside and not seeing sunlight for months on end?

Would it then surprise you to find that the bulk of the transmission of Covid-19 occurs in the household? Of course not.

Sunlight helps our bodies make both vitamin D as well as nitric oxide, a chemical messenger that plays a big role in healthy immune function and blood pressure health.

While the CDC gives some mention of getting sunlight, in the same sentence they recommend sunscreen of at least SPF 15. Completely blocks both vitamin D and NO production.

And, just in case you think that fresh air and sunlight seem like weak recommendations, I’ve included a link in the comments section to the review of fresh air and sunlight on the history of both tuberculosis infections and the 1918 Pandemic.
