Balanced nutrition of mothers for kuposhan mukt bharat
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch of Sher-e-Kashmir University today on 17.09.2020 organized “Poshan Maah” at KVK – Poonch campus in collaboration with Mission Directorate ICDS, District Poonch. The programme was attended by more than forty anganwari workers of Block Haveli. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ajay Gupta I/c. Sr. Scientist & Head informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently pledged for a Kuposhan Mukt Bharat or Malnutrition-free India by 2022 and has asked every citizen to help in achieving this goal. He informed that more than 700 KVKs across India organized today’s programme on ‘Poshan Maah’ (Nutrition Month) with a goal to improve the nutritional status of children up to 6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers. Dr. Ajay Gupta described the status of malnutrition in India including Protein related disorders, iron deficiency, vitamin deficiency and importance of healthy foods in human diet for balanced nutrition. He said that the objective of the programme was to create awareness about the importance of nutrition for good health which has far-reaching implications on economic growth and National Development. Dr. Sudhir Singh Jamwal, Programme Assistant (Pomology) on this occasion highlighted the importance of nutritional food, vegetables and fruits in human diet. He informed that malnutrition is a serious problem in Poonch District among adolescent girls, pregnant women and children that need to be addressed. He also explained concept of nutria garden to the participants. KVK also provided vegetable kits to the participating Asha workers for establishment of nutritional garden. The Kits have been sponsored by IFFCO to celebrate the birth anniversary of Hon’able Prime Minister, Sh Narendra Modi. Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, SMS Plant Protection described the nursery raising techniques along with disease and insect management in vegetable crops, He also present the vote of thanks to the participants.
