'General sense' lockdowns are effective to tackle virus

Greens leader Adam Bandt says there is a general sense in Melbourne that the lockdowns are for the best, to get case numbers down so restrictions can be lifted.

“People here are doing it tough, no one’s really enjoying these restrictions,” Mr Bandt told Sky News.

Last Sunday Premier Daniel Andrews unveiled his government’s roadmap out of the strict lockdowns.

“But I think there is a general sense that this is being done to get on top of this latest outbreak of the virus, and get to a point where we can have the restrictions lifted,” Mr Bandt said.

“The roadmap itself is being informed by the health and medical advice and the expert advice.

“And that’s as much as anyone can ask.”
