Officials from the World Health Organization Answer Questions on COVID-19 | LIVE | NowThis

U.S. NOT JOINING GLOBAL EFFORT TO CREATE VACCINE: Officials from the World Health Organization take questions from the public as part of their #AskWHO initiative. The Trump administration has announced that the United States will not be joining a global effort to develop and distribute a COVID-19 vaccine, refusing to work with the WHO to ensure equitable vaccine doses for all countries. Over 170 countries are in talks to participate in the initiative. ‘The United States will continue to engage our international partners to ensure we defeat this virus,’ a White House spokesperson said, ‘but we will not be constrained by multilateral organizations influenced by the corrupt World Health Organization and China.’ Pres. Trump has continuously criticized the WHO by blaming them for the pandemic, even though the WHO declared a health emergency six weeks before Trump did. Earlier this year, Trump announced that he would be pulling U.S. funding for the global health organization.
