Caring for Our Elders During the COVID-19 Crisis

This week on the Shang Shung Institute School of Tibetan Medicine Webinar Series, we speak with Dr. Gerry Steinberg about caring for geriatric patients during the COVID-19 crisis. Our webinar host Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo shares principles of elderly care, from the tradition of Tibetan Medicine. Dr. Steinberg and Menpa Wangmo share a wealth of knowledge and experience, from Western and Eastern medicine perspectives, and tools for understanding and managing our health during this difficult time of the global pandemic.

Dr. Gerry Steinberg

Dr. Steinberg has been a practicing physician for over 45 years. He practiced in a variety of settings.
Starting out as a primary care physician in a small town in western Massachusetts, he developed an interest in rehabilitation medicine as assistant medical director of a small community hospital rehabilitation unit.
Dr. Steinberg went on to full time involvement in acute rehabilitation settings. Over the last 25 years he has been practicing in skilled nursing facilities caring for the frail elderly as well rehabilitation of elders planning to return home.
Dr. Steinberg has been a student of Chogyal Namkai Norbu since meeting him in 1982 and has been following his teachings ever since.

Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo

Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo is a practitioner of Traditional Tibetan Medicine, with over 30 years of experience in clinical practice as well as teaching. She received her advanced degree from the Lhasa University School of Traditional Medicine

Menpa Wangmo is the Director of the Shang Shung Institute School of Tibetan Medicine. She teaches Tibetan Medicine around the world, developing programs and teaching students in the USA, Spain, Italy, Russia, and many places.

Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo is the Co-Founder of the American Tibetan Medical Association, ATMA, Tibetan Medicine professional organization.
