Ep. 140 Gabriela Gomes on COVID-19 Herd Immunity

Our guest is Professor Gabriela Gomes from the University of Strathclyde who helps us understand her recent work showing that herd immunity to COVID-19 may have been reached in many communities and be at hand in many others. We discuss the methods by which herd immunity thresholds are estimated, the deficiencies of the classical model, and the impact that a model taking into account variability in individual susceptibility to disease has on an epidemic.
