At Tree Tops Elephant Reserve in Phuket, our elephants spend mornings and afternoons roaming our land, playing in the mud or water, and eating a lot.
Right now we have no tourists because of Covid19 but that doesn’t mean our elephants don’t do anything. Our mahouts spend every day with our elephants and they are trained to use limited voice commands, and to simply let our elephants roam freely. We don’t have any borders on our land so the mahouts have to keep an each elephants in case they come across our neighbors fruit.
As you will see from this video, our land is very dry after 5 months without rain, however this week we have finally had a few downpours with more to come. This should green our land up wonderfully.
Our elephants enjoy a variety of food from many different types of grasses (you can see them banging pineapple grass on their legs), various fruits including banana and watermelon, sugar cane and vitamin supplements to name just a few.
