A study published in medical journal “The Lancet” on Monday shows a phase two trial of a Chinese vaccine is safe and it induces an immune response. Medical experts say the latest trial adds further evidence of producing an immune response in a large population and is an important step in evaluating the vaccine. The trial was conducted in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, with 508 participants. The Lancet report says subjects experienced mild side effects such as fever and injection site pain but no severe effects were reported. China had earlier pledged to make its COVID-19 vaccine a global public good when it’s available.
